Chapter 1: A hot evening The evening came slowly as Marie placed her lips on the edge of the wine glass. The soft light stifled the cold of the day and transformed their small apartment into a place of warmth and anticipation. She had planned something special for the evening. The food delivery was ordered — a delicious menu with Italian specialties that she had wanted for a long time. A little later, the doorbell rang and she jumped up, nervous and excited at the same time. The impatient tension in the air was almost palpable. When she opened the door, there was an attractive young man standing there, his smile warm and inviting. “Good evening, delivery for Marie,” he said, the bag of food in hand. His gaze was intense and she felt a tingling in her stomach. “Thank you! ” she answered and stepped aside to give him access. The man came in, his presence filled the room and made Marie forget for a moment what she was up to. “It smells great,” he remarked as he placed the food on the kitchen table. She looked at him in the eyes, which met with a shy smile for a heartbeat. “Have you eaten yet? ” she asked playfully. “Not yet,” he replied, and his look revealed more than a thousand words could say.
