Chapter 1 It was a balmy summer night in the city that never seemed to sleep. Her lights sparkled like stars in the clear night sky. The roads were quiet as I drove through the streets and maintained my serious appearance as a private driver. However, I wasn't alone in my vehicle tonight. Maria, the young and fascinating businesswoman whom I regularly drove to her evening appointments, had a special sparkle in her eyes. I had noticed her taking a quick look at the rearview mirror over and over again during our night-time trips, as if to make sure I was watching her closely. The tension between us was palpable, and I could almost hear the crackling of oppression. It was fascinating how the darkness of our environment concealed more than just external circumstances; it also captured the most secret wishes and unfulfilled fantasies. “Could we perhaps take another route? “Mary asked suddenly, her voice was soft and inviting. The sound of the V8 engine was the only sound that broke the silence of the night. We didn't need any more words. It was as if every breath would ring in the beginning of the game without rules. The park was soon in sight and a beguiling premonition spread as heavy as air around us. When I arrived at the park, I noticed how the shadows of the trees enveloped us. It was darker here, and the silence seemed to be just waiting for us to say another word.
